The term Air Force One is used in air traffic control jargon to identify any aircraft carrying the president of the United States. By extension it commonly refers to planes specially modified to transport the president. Currently, the service is entrusted to two Boeing VC-25Aarising from 747-200B and active since 1990. Despite their 35-year career, a replacement for the two aircraft has been defined, but the replacement will not take place before 2027, also due to the intervention of Donald Trump which postponed its entry into service: there will be two Boeing 747-8 specially modified, i.e. the last generation of the historic “Jumbo jet” produced.
