By Ole Kroning

Not again! Once again, climate stickers of the last generation have boarded the capital’s airport BER. On Friday afternoon, eight so-called activists cut their way through the airport fence with wire cutters and sprayed orange paint on a private plane.

The end-time extremists broadcast their action via live stream on several social media channels, accompanied by group statements such as: “The richest one percent damages the climate more than the entire poorer half of humanity put together.”

Several of the intruders happily cycled on bicycles across the airport grounds of the private jet terminal “General Aviation” in Schönefeld (Dahme-Spree). According to an airport spokeswoman, the action had no impact on flight operations.

Using several primed fire extinguishers, the climate clerks sprayed a large area of a parked private jet with paint.

The aim of the action at BER Airport was to protest against “the excessive destruction of human livelihoods by the super-rich”, it said. Federal and airport police forces were quickly on site and snatched the fire extinguishers from them.

According to the Brandenburg police, six of the eight greasers were taken into custody. Presidium spokesman Mario Heinemann to the BZ: “Two of the people involved received medical treatment because they complained of health problems.” According to the spokesman, these problems were not a result of the police operation, but the activists often complained about headaches or sudden ones Nausea.

The State Criminal Police Office in Brandenburg has initiated investigations into property damage and breach of the peace. It has not yet been decided whether the public prosecutor’s office will issue arrest warrants against those involved.

Several times on airport grounds

The climate stickers have already drawn attention to themselves several times with campaigns on the BER site. The procedure was always the same. Cut a hole in the fence with wire cutters and then ride your bike along the airport transport routes.

Most recently, in December 2022, they sat down and glued themselves to runways in Berlin and Munich.
