After the party is before the party? No longer for this Irish woman after realizing that partying often just ends up in a “shit show”. “Inhaling”, the tender “Bloom” and “Last To Leave” also dissect juvenile ups and downs. You can even dance to “A Mess”, as long as m/f/d like fluffy, noisy indie pop (or are drunk enough), before solemn piano chords carry Reddy in “Shoulder Blades” a little too boldly into the toil of the flat, where Grandma’s death (“Pray For Me”) and “Motherhood” reflections await.
After the party is before the party?
I guess it’s still called growing up. In good moments, Ailbhe Reddy reminds of the young Kristin Hersh from Throwing Muses days. In less good ones, she overdoes it with that cracking voice.
