Aid in the war – Poland provides fighter jets for Ukraine

After a long struggle, the green light is given for the Mig-29 delivery: Poland is sending all of its fighter jets of the type (apparently 23 pieces) to Ramstein – from there they could then be delivered by the USA to Ukraine.

The government in Warsaw said on Tuesday evening that all MIG-29s would be transferred to Ramstein “immediately and free of charge”. There they would then be “available” to the USA.

Poland’s Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki (53): Any decision to leave offensive weapons to Ukraine must be made unanimously by the entire NATO. That is why his country is ready to transfer its machines to Ramstein.

“But we are not prepared to take any steps alone.” Poland is not part of the war in Ukraine.

On Tuesday evening, Poland also called on all NATO partners who own MIG-29s to do the same and provide planes

Poland, Bulgaria and Slovakia still have old Russian-made fighter jets, such as the MiG-29s, which could be flown by Ukrainian pilots without major conversion, according to Politico magazine. Poland got its machines from Germany at the beginning of the 2000s for the symbolic sum of one euro.

In return, Poland will probably receive F-16 fighter jets from the USA!

Last week, as Poland considered sending fighter jets to Ukraine, Warsaw asked the White House if the government of US President Joe Biden (79) could guarantee that it would provide them with American-made fighter jets to fight the to close the gap.

The administration of US President Joe Biden (79) has not previously opposed the Polish government making the MiGs available to Kyiv. BUT: Poland needed a replacement.

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy (44) had repeatedly asked for Ukraine to also send air support, as this was the only way the country could defeat the Russian armed forces.
