The Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW) is working with Bonaire and Saba to further improve the quality of education on those islands. This has been agreed today by the Minister of Education, Culture and Science, the boards of schools on both islands, the Expertise Centers for Educational Care (EOZs) and the deputies of the public entities of Bonaire and Saba.
The cooperation focuses, among other things, on recruiting and informing education staff, professionalising school boards, attention to multilingualism, maintenance of school buildings, better flow to further education and the development of a vision on digital literacy.
The agreements have been laid down in an education agenda per island, which was digitally signed today by all parties involved. The details of the agreements are now being worked out and published in August. The implementation of the education agendas will then start immediately in the new school year. The agreements run up to and including the 2026/2027 school year.
The Ministry of Education, Culture and Science is still in talks with the parties involved on St. Eustatius to draw up an education agenda with that island as well.
