‘Agractie and FDF in conversation with Remkes on Wednesday’

Farmers’ action groups Agractie and Farmers Defense Force (FDF) will still talk to discussion leader in the nitrogen crisis on Wednesday morning, Johan Remkes. Various media report that including the NOS and the ANP news agency. It is the first time that the groups, which previously called for rather far-reaching resistance actions, have joined Remkes. The last time the moderator spoke to farmers, Agractie and FDF were represented by the more moderate LTO.

Remkes had invited the action groups to join them, but Agractie only wanted to talk if a number of conditions were met. For example, the group demanded that two items be on the agenda on Wednesday morning: rejecting the now infamous nitrogen map and the ultimate goal of 2030, when, according to the cabinet, nitrogen emissions must be halved. The NOS reports that the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality has no objections to discussing these agenda items.

“In this way, our conditions have been met to be able to have a constructive conversation that will hopefully lead to results and a start of restoration of confidence,” said Agractie leader Bart Kemps. Prime Minister Mark Rutte (VVD), Ministers Christianne van der Wal (Nature and Nitrogen, VVD), Henk Staghouwer (Agriculture, ChristenUnie) and Mark Harbers (Infrastructure and Water Management) are present on behalf of the cabinet.
