Agnieszka Holland talks about Poland rejecting migrants

TAmong the important, urgent, political and humanist films of this Festival which opened its doors with a film that talks about the past but which many have declined to present, there is certainly Zielona granica (The green border) Agnieszka Holland, the first of the two films in competition on Tuesday 5.

The film by the Polish director and screenwriter has been made semi-secretly for the argument disliked by the Polish government, which he tells the migration story of a Syrian refugee family, a lonely English teacher from Afghanistan and a young border guardwho cross their paths on the border between Poland and Belarus.

Out of Competition we are already moved at the thought of seeing the documentary Ryuichi Sakamoto /Opus by Neo Sora. In the years leading up to his death on March 28, 2023, legendary composer Ryuichi Sakamoto was no longer able to perform live. Nevertheless, in 2022, he has gathered all his energies to make one last performance in the form of a concert film.

Carefully curated by Sakamoto himself, i 20 songs he performs in the film trace his entire career, from his pop-star days with the Yellow Magic Orchestra to Bertolucci’s magnificent scores, to the meditative music of his latest album, 12.
