In 1974, ABBA won the Eurovision Song Contest in Brighton with their hit song “Waterloo”, giving the starting signal for a unique career. Ironically, on the 50th anniversary of this win, the ESC 2024 will take place again in her home country of Sweden.
Now fans are hoping for a reunion of the band. Speaking to British tabloid The Sun, ABBA member Agnetha Fältskog said: “You never know anything about ABBA and when we… well, I’m not going to say anything about that. I prefer to remain silent.” The singer neither confirms the assumptions nor denies a possible appearance. However, her ex-husband Björn Ulvaeus dismissed the idea that his band could perform at the ESC in Malmö.
In May 2022, the virtual live show “ABBA Voyage” celebrated its premiere in London. Band members Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad have already teased in the past that they want to use the so-called abbatare of their show for other exciting projects. Now fans of the pop group suspect that – if not the real members – the virtual versions for the ESC could travel to Malmö.
