Kenyan runner Agnes Ngetich shattered the world record in the 10 km road race on Sunday (January 14, 2024).
On Sunday in Valencia, the 22-year-old clocked 28:46 minutes, 28 seconds below Yalemzerf Yehualaw’s previous record from 2022.
Halfway through the route, Ngetich, third in the 2023 World Cross Country Championships, also equaled the 5 km world record in Valencia with 14:13 minutes, which her compatriot Beatrice Chebet had achieved on New Year’s Eve 2023 in Barcelona. Letesenbet Gidey’s 10,000 m track record is 29:01.03.
