The Ghana Football Association and Mustafa Özat, press officer of Atsu’s employer Hatayspor, confirmed that Atsu was found alive under the rubble. A day later, doubts arose again about his situation and the place where he would be.
His agent Nana Sechere said in a statement on Twitter: ,,Following yesterday’s update from the club that Christian has been found alive, we still have no confirmation of where he is at the moment. As you can imagine, this continues to be a terrible time for his family and we are doing everything we can to find Christian.”
Atsu was said to have been taken to a hospital yesterday, but it is unclear whether this reporting is correct and which hospital this is. Hatayspor coach Volkan Demirel also lives in great uncertainty. Please don’t write that he survived without being sure that he survived. People have families. Hope, sadness and pain increase. There is no news yet about Atsu and Taner Savut. I wouldn’t share this if they were in the hospital. As soon as there is news, I will let you know,” the 63-time international is quoted by a Turkish journalist from Hürriyet newspaper.
Savut, the sporting director of Hatayspor, is still missing. The searches are still in full swing, but so far without results.
