Again anti-Semitic violence in Berlin!
On Saturday, a 37-year-old Jewish man was the victim of an anti-Semitic attack in Berlin. According to the police, a 61-year-old suddenly hit the man in the Prenzlauer Berg district in the neck in front of his son – because he is Jewish.
When the Jewish man walked through the neighborhood with his son, the suspect initially made insulting remarks, but the victim and his son ignored him. When the two returned later and wanted to use the elevator at the local train station, the suspect suddenly slapped the father’s neck and again insulted him anti-Semitically.
The rapid reaction of a witness meant that the police were able to track down the attacker shortly after the attack. A breathalyser test showed he was under the influence of alcohol.
The suspect was released on the spot for the time being, investigations into suspected anti-Semitic attacks are continuing.
Again and again there are attacks on Jews in Berlin. In the first half of 2023 alone, 304 anti-Semitic criminal proceedings were registered.
Just last Tuesday, a 63-year-old was arrested in Berlin for anti-Semitic acts. On Saturday he had set fire to a box of books at the Holocaust memorial “Gleis 17” in Berlin’s Grunewald and wrote a letter of confession.
A week earlier, Israeli tourist Jonathan (19) was attacked by three men in Kreuzberg and slightly injured.
In November last year there was a brutal attack on the Berlin Ringbahn, in which two men insulted a Jewish man, beat him up and injured his head several times.
