Again injured in bull run in northern Spanish city of Pamplona | Instagram VTM NEWS

The San Fermín festivities are currently taking place in the northern Spanish city. It is the first time since 2019 that the famous, but also controversial parties will take place again. They were postponed twice due to the corona crisis. During the festivities, hundreds of daredevils in white T-shirts and red scarves descend on Pamplona. The goal is to get as close as possible to six fighting bulls that are released in the morning in an 850-meter race through the narrow streets of the city.

The runs end in an arena later in the day where the bulls are eventually killed in bullfights. Dozens of people are injured every year.

The knee of a 29-year-old Spaniard from Valencia was punctured in one of the streets. Another 29-year-old Spaniard and a 25-year-old American were hit in the groin and leg respectively by the animals’ horns in the arena. Three other participants were taken to hospital with bruises.

At least 16 people have died in bull runs in Pamplona since the start of the censuses in 1911. The last death occurred in 2009, when a bull pierced a 27-year-old Spaniard. Five people were also trampled last week.
