Again fewer apartments completed in Berlin

The construction of new apartments in Berlin continues to slow down. Last year, 15,870 apartments were completed, as the Berlin-Brandenburg Statistics Office announced on Friday. That was 2.9 percent less than in the previous year and a good 16 percent less than 2019, when the long-term high of 18,999 was reached. The Senate’s goal is for an average of 20,000 apartments to be built each year by 2030. This should reduce the pressure on rents and purchase prices. Most new apartments were built last year in the Treptow-Köpenick district (2806), the fewest again in Steglitz-Zehlendorf (360).
