According to the couple, Aylin made two suicide attempts as a result of the psychological complaints that resulted from the program. They received financial compensation of 30,000 euros, but are still considering legal action against RTL.
The other former participants reported individually and not as a couple, says Diekstra. “A number of people have indicated that they want to share their story with RTL,” said the lawyer. “We will speak to a number of others in the coming days.”
RTL and SimpelZodiac said on Monday that they did not want to comment on the matter. “We naturally stand for respectful cooperation,” says the spokesperson on behalf of the two media companies. “And if the parties really cannot come to an agreement, there is always the independent reporting center Mores, where participants can always go.”
A spokesperson for RTL announced on Tuesday evening that the company will stick to the earlier statement. There are no recordings of the program at the moment, but a new season is being prepared.
