To the frustration of the neighborhood, the building has been empty for almost six years. The apartments will be life-resistant and will be equipped with a lift, among other things. They are mainly intended for seniors who would like to continue living in the area. “This is a recognizable wish”, says Rademaker. “They also want to do all kinds of things, but no longer paint a house and maintain a large garden.” It should also ensure circulation in the housing market.
The area will soon become greener with more grass, flowers and trees. It is now largely paved due to the supermarket location and the parking lots. The flower boutique Hofman, which is still attached to the building that will be demolished, will continue to exist and will soon become an independent pavilion.
“We are now going to collect the interested parties,” says Rademaker about the follow-up. “Then we will demolish and build. When that is exactly is not yet known. But our goal is to put the shovel in the ground as soon as possible. That is probably well before the summer.” The prices of the apartments will be determined soon.
