After weeks, street lighting in the Haarlemmer neighborhood of Pentagon finally works: for a few minutes

It took exactly a few minutes: working street lighting in the Pentagon. Since mid-January, three streets in that neighborhood had been dark at night. After weeks, the defect was finally fixed this morning, but not for long. “After a few minutes, the power went off,” said local resident Marlies Dingenouts.

Dingenouts received a photo of a lit lamp in the neighborhood app this morning. “Everyone is happy that it is working again”, she tells NH Nieuws/Haarlem105. The authentic lighting in the Lange – and Korte Lakenstraat, and the Doelstraat did not work and Dingenouts was the recent weeks press along to point out the broken lighting.

The working light was only short-lived: a few minutes later, not only did the streets go dark, but the entire neighborhood was left without power due to a power outage.

From cabinet to wall

When raising the issue of the broken lighting, the resident felt sent from pillar to post. Because the municipality said that it had to report the faulty lighting to grid operator Liander, while he always said that he had not heard anything from the municipality. This ping-pong resulted in the three streets being shrouded in darkness for weeks at a time.

In the end, with the intervention of NH news/Haarlem105, it turned out that, according to the municipality, a third party called Dynniq had to make the lighting. According to Dingenouts, the local residents are happy that the lighting has now been made. But it’s frustrating that it was short-lived and very reassured Dingenouts are not confident that the lighting will work tonight. “Am I happy? Let’s just wait and see tonight.”
