As of: October 12, 2023 9:55 p.m

Spanish world champion coach Jorge Vilda takes over the Moroccan women’s national team. As the Moroccan Football Association (FRMF) announced on Thursday (10/12/23), the Spaniard will be introduced on Sunday.

The 42-year-old led the Spanish team to the title at the World Cup last summer. Almost two weeks later, the Spanish football association RFEF separated from the successful coach in the wake of the attack by former association boss Luis Rubiales on player Jennifer Hermoso. In Morocco, Vilda and the team should qualify for the 2027 World Cup.

Most recently reached the round of 16

In Australia and New Zealand, Morocco, still under Frenchman Reynald Pedros, reached the round of 16 as group opponents of the German national team. It was the first World Cup participation in the history of Moroccan women’s football.
