After the Twitter lawsuit against Elon Musk: The Tesla billionaire hits back and files a counterclaim

After the short message service Twitter officially filed a lawsuit a few weeks ago against the head of the electric car manufacturer Tesla, Elon Muskwith which Musk is supposed to be forced to complete the announced takeover of the online service, the defendant is now striking back.

Elon Musk filed a counterclaim against the online company in a Delaware court. Because the lawsuit was filed as “confidential,” it cannot be viewed.

Twitter’s five-day trial against Elon Musk is scheduled to start on October 17. The focus of the lawsuit is the withdrawal of the Twitter takeover plans by the Tesla boss. He had originally offered $44 billion to buy the online service, but backed down on July 8, citing “false and misleading” information from Twitter, particularly with regard to the number of fake accounts, as one of the main reasons. As a result, the market accused Musk of only initiating the Twitter takeover in order to be able to sell Tesla shares.

If Twitter is successful with the lawsuit against Musk, the billionaire could be condemned to complete the acquisition as announced. A contractual penalty is also conceivable in this context.
