After two dramatic collapses at the Beijing Winter Olympics, Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold was removed from the Norwegian biathlon team. In the meantime, however, the 25-year-old is doing better again, even the previously dreaded mountain air no longer seems to cause her any problems.
Review: After Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold collapsed in mid-February after the biathlon sprint after crossing the finish line, the Norwegian also collapsed after the exhausting pursuit in the finish area. The dramatic pictures went around the world and gave her an early Olympic exit.
Team colleague Tiril Eckhoff regretted Tandrevold’s departure and spoke of “very sad news” for the rest of the team. At the same time, she also said: “I think it was a good decision by the doctors.”
Since then, Tandrevold has evidently implemented their advice in an exemplary manner. Pictures on social media recently showed the ski hunter on a trip to the USA in Colorado, where she climbed a 4,000-meter-high mountain while hiking. Unlike in Beijing, where she “only” had to climb 1,700 meters, the mountain air didn’t bother her.
Biathlon: Tandrevold handles mountain air better
“It’s funny to see how your body works when you’re on vacation. When you compete at high altitude, you’re automatically extremely focused, but this time it was secondary,” Tandrevold explained in an interview with the newspaper “Verden’s walk“, why the height in North America did not cause her any difficulties.
The 25-year-old, one of the few left-handed shooters in biathlon, has often struggled with stress problems. Among other things, she was diagnosed with heart problems after the World Cup in Oberhof 2021.
