After the end of the sister’s career: Chevalier has big podium goals

Her big sister Anaïs Chevalier-Bouchet gave up her skis after the last biathlon season, now Chloé Chevalier wants to step into the limelight. The 27-year-old has big plans.

The French ski hunter Chloé Chevalier finally wants to make it to the top of the world. “I haven’t reached the end of my development yet,” announced the biathlete in an interview with “Nordic Magazine”.

Chevalier made her debut in the World Cup in 2015 and has won the relay three times since then, most recently in January 2022 in Ruhpolding. In Antholz she was able to win second place in the sprint in 22/23 – her best result of the past winter. So far, however, she has not had great success.

While her sister finished fourth in the mass start at the World Championships in Oberhof last season and came eighth overall, Chloé Chevalier had to settle for 16th place. Behind her sister, the overall winner Julia Simon and teammate Lou Jeanmonnot, she was the fourth-best French rider last season.

The results now give Chevalier “more motivation to get even better and to recognize what we are capable of,” says the biathlete, who now knows which screws to turn: “I know what I have to do to achieve the top or at least an even better level.”

Biathlon ace Chevalier: “I want to be back on the podium”

Thanks to working with a psychologist, she has recently been able to narrow down performance fluctuations better and better. Now she says: “I want more and just because I’ve done it doesn’t mean I’ll necessarily do it again. It’s all about work. I know I can do it and now I have to do it again . It’s a nice challenge to ask yourself how to do better.”

Chloé Chevalier’s declared goal for the coming winter has long been set: “I want to be back on the podium and even be able to run for victory. And there’s still a World Championship medal up for grabs in the relay.” With the French selection, she had finished fourth at the World Cup.
