Shoe cleaning is certainly one of the unpopular duties of everyday life for most people. Not for Kai Bruchmann (53), who has made a name for himself as an event shoeshine boy. Now it can be booked again!
Bruchmann offers something very special: the man always works in a black waistcoat, black bow tie and white shirt. That has style. Before Corona, he offered his services throughout Germany in hotels, at trade fairs or in shopping centers. Since the easing, he wants to start there again.
He always arrives at his place of work with his various brushes (he owns around 50), countless creams (he calls over 500 his own) and cloths and polishes like crazy.
First it removes the coarsest dirt, then it is creamed, polished and finally properly impregnated. As a little gimmick, the shoes are deodorized so that they smell like sea water.
He found his passion through his ex-wife, who once ran an equestrian sport shop, where he cleaned and above all greased many boots. When asked by some customers whether the job is fun, he replies: “Yes, otherwise I wouldn’t do it.”
He sometimes brings his large chair to big events, on which the customer sits while Bruchmann takes care of the footwear. “Express care takes about a minute, the deluxe version up to ten minutes,” says the expert.

Not only leather shoes need care, sneakers too. Among other things, they are lathered with the help of a small round brush – and in the end they look (almost) like new.
Buchmann’s tip: care for shoes at least once a week!
Bruchmann was supposed to prove that he also has a keen nose in “Wetten, dass ..?”, in which he wanted to recognize shoe polish by the smell. He was already invited, then the show was canceled…
Now he is finally waiting for orders again. Bruchmann can be booked via his website www.der-schuhputzer-berlin.de
