After the Bundesliga game was abandoned: hefty fine for VfL Bochum – football – sport

A third of the fine goes to on-site measures

The game against Gladbach was canceled on March 18, 2022 after assistant referee Christian Gittelmann was hit on the head by a filled beverage cup. The game was scored for Borussia.

Of the 100,000 euros fine, 33,000 euros can be used for security and violence prevention measures. VfL also received fines for throwing cups in other games totaling 15,000 euros and several conditions.

Bochum recognizes judgment in all parts

“Since the Bundesliga club was actively involved in identifying the perpetrators and will also implement improved video surveillance and the reusable cup system to optimize security in the stadium, the DFB control committee had applied to the sports court to suspend the exclusion of spectators on probation,” the DFB said in explanation .

VfL had already used additional video technology in the Ruhr Stadium for the last game against Bayer Leverkusen. In connection with the abandonment of the game, the Bochum public prosecutor’s office has brought charges of physical harm against a 38-year-old suspect.
