After the anniversary year: Wunderwerk is insolvent

The sustainability-oriented brand Wunderwerk is insolvent.

The Rheinstoff GmbH & Co. KG, the company behind Wunderwerk, has filed for bankruptcy with the responsible court, reports the specialist magazine Textilwirtschaft. Attorney Georg Kreplin from the law firm Kreplin Kuhlmann Nasser was appointed provisional insolvency administrator.

In the meantime, business operations should continue as normal – the specialist trade customers will be supplied and the physical shops and the online shop will remain open, according to a message to customers from Wunderwerk boss Heiko Wunder, which is available to the textile industry. The clothing supplier operates six locations – two in Berlin, one in Frankfurt am Main, one on the island of Sylt, one in Nettetal and one in Düsseldorf. The e-commerce platform is also not affected by the procedure, as it is managed by another company.

As reasons for the insolvency, the Wunderwerk founder cites, among other things, the corona-related lockdowns, delays in the supply chain and the insolvency of two suppliers, as well as reluctance to buy and inflation.

Wunder founded the brand in 2012 and celebrated its tenth anniversary last year. Ever since it was founded, he has aimed to establish a brand that combines design and quality with sustainable aspects and treats nature, animals and people fairly.

Wunderwerk and the responsible insolvency administrator have not yet responded to a request from FashionUnited.
