After storm “Ylenia” – the next storm is already approaching

According to estimates by the German Weather Service (DWD), the series of storm lows could soon continue.

Such a development should continue to be expected, meteorologist Jens Oehmichen from the German Weather Service said on Thursday morning to the German Press Agency.

According to DWD expectations, the current storm “Ylenia” is expected to weaken later on Thursday afternoon.

Until then, hurricane gusts with wind speeds of more than 120 kilometers per hour are likely to occur again and again, especially on the North and Baltic Sea coasts, but also in the high areas in central Germany, such as on the Brocken in the Harz Mountains or on the Fichtelberg in the Ore Mountains, according to Ohemichen.

Hurricane-like gusts with wind speeds of up to 120 kilometers per hour are also possible in the lowlands. So far, the storm has developed as expected.

In the coming days, too, Germany will be in the sphere of influence of a strong north-west current from the Atlantic.

Therefore, after a short breather, another storm of similar strength is to be expected, especially on Saturday night. Further storm lows must also be expected from Monday.
