There was no measure on Friday evening Patrick Roest, who became Dutch champion in the 5000 meters for the fourth time. The skater of Team Reggeborgh was by far the strongest under somewhat difficult circumstances. For example, the high air pressure did not cooperate for driving very fast times. But nevertheless winner Roest clocked an excellent 6.08.77 at the end of his ride. It was the tenth fastest time ever driven in Thialf in Heerenveen.
