After smearing the painting ‘Girl with a pearl earring’: OM demands four months in prison for climate activist from Bruges
On Thursday, the man, along with two other Belgian climate activists, tried to smear the famous painting The Girl with a Pearl Earring with paint. That work hangs in the Mauritshuis in The Hague. The damage in the museum is estimated at 2,000 euros. With his action, the activist says he wants to draw attention to the climate crisis. Members of the Just Stop Oil action group have also defaced art and buildings elsewhere.
