After being relegated to the 3rd division, Arminia Bielefeld will not renew the contract with head coach Uwe Koschinat.
As the DSC announced, the new Sports– Managing Director Michael Mutzel informed Koschinat about this decision on Friday. The contract of the 51-year-old would have been automatically extended if he stayed up.
Bielefeld, still in the first division in 2021/22, clearly failed in the relegation at third division fourth-placed SV Wehen Wiesbaden (0: 4, 1: 2). Koschinat was the third Arminen head coach of the messed-up season after Uli Forte and Daniel Scherning. It is still unclear who will take care of Bielefeld in the coming season.
“For our future orientation we will make a change in the coaching position,” explained Mutzel: “It speaks for him how professionally he took this decision today.” Koschinat was “grateful for the openness and directness in our conversation. Unfortunately, we didn’t achieve our sporting goals, that hurts me and everyone a lot.”
