After relegation from the 2nd division: FC Ingolstadt says goodbye to 14 players

“New beginning means saying goodbye”

After being relegated from the 2nd Bundesliga, FC Ingolstadt is facing a major upheaval in the summer. As the “Schanzer” announced on Tuesday, 14 players will be said goodbye in the last home game next Saturday against Hansa Rostock.

The professionals whose contracts expire at the end of the season will not be extended include captain Stefan Kutschke, Marcel Gaus, Jonatan Kotzke, Maximilian Beister, Marc Stendera and the two goalkeepers Fabijan Buntic and Robert Jendrusch. In addition, Thomas Keller, who is drawn to 1. FC Heidenheim, Filip Bilbija and Dennis Eckert Ayensa will leave the FCI. Loan players Christian Gebauer (Arminia Bielefeld), Andreas Poulsen (Borussia Mönchengladbach), Florian Pick (Heidenheim) and keeper Dejan Stojanovic (FC Middlesbrough) will meanwhile return to their regular clubs.

“An eventful and very emotional season is coming to an end. A fresh start, which is required after this season, means breaking new ground and saying goodbye – even to long-standing, well-deserved players. As part of the last home game against Rostock, we will – together with our fans – say a dignified farewell to the boys who will no longer play for FC Ingolstadt 04 next season,” said Sport and Communications Director Dietmar Beiersdorfer.
