Sun lovers have not had the best summer this year in the Netherlands: Thursday we have to restart with showers, spread across the country. Locally the showers are accompanied by thunder.
Around ten o’clock it is 13 to 17 degrees and there is a moderate, fairly strong southwest wind at sea. Fortunately, there is also room for sun, Weeronline writes.
From noon there are still showers, especially in the northern provinces. The rest of the country then gets sunny periods. In the course of the afternoon it will be about 19 degrees with a mainly moderate wind from the west.
The last showers will fall in the northeast of the country in the evening. Then the clouds can increase from the west again. In the night from Thursday to Friday, rain may fall for some time, especially in the southern provinces. In the northern half of the country it remains mostly dry at night.
Friday
Friday will be mainly wet again, and in the southern half of the country it will probably be considerably wetter than in the northern Netherlands. In the northern provinces even the sun can occasionally break through. In most places it will be around 20-21 degrees on Friday: “A very usual temperature for this time of year,” says Weeronline. The wind is weak or at most moderate in strength and blows from the south.
Weekend: late summer weather after a gray start
The weekend will start gray: clouds and rain in the morning. In the afternoon the chance of rain disappears and the sun breaks through.
Saturday will start gray with mist, fog or low clouds. Locally a little (moth) rain may fall in the morning. As the day progresses, the chance of rain disappears and the sun breaks through. The wind is moderate and the temperature rises to 24 degrees in the southeast. This is how it feels a bit (after) summery on Saturday afternoon.
It will also be pleasant weekend weather on Sunday: from a maximum of 21 degrees on the Wadden Islands to a regional 25 degrees in Brabant and Limburg. Sunday will be a dry day with a weak to moderate northeasterly wind and a mix of clouds and sun.
