According to media reports, British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his petrochemicals company Ineos have made an official offer for record-breaking English football champions Manchester United, which is up for sale.
This was reported, among other things, by the broadcaster “BBC” and the news agency “PA”.
Earlier, Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, the chairman of one of Qatar’s largest banks, made an offer for the traditional Premier League club, which currently sit third in the table. Al Thani confirmed this in a press release on Friday evening.
The current owners, the US family Glazer, announced last year that they were considering selling Manchester United. Interested parties should submit their bids by Friday.
Ratcliffe, who has been a United fan since childhood, is one of the richest men in Britain. He had unsuccessfully tried to take over Chelsea with Ineos last year.
