After Pocher’s slap in the face: Does Fat Comedy have to be arrested?

Last March, the comedian Giuseppe Sumrain aka Fat Comedy Oliver Pocher missed a slap in the face during a boxing event in Dortmund – now the incident is to be clarified in court. According to the “Bild” newspaper, Pocher accused the comedian.

Fat Comedy faces up to five years in prison

The court hearing is to take place in the next few months before the Dortmund District Court. If Fat Comedy is found guilty of intentional assault, he faces up to five years in prison. In June, Pocher already stated that he was aiming for the “maximum penalty”. According to him, compensation for pain and suffering in the amount of 100,000 euros would be appropriate.

Pocher is said to have suffered several injuries in the attack, including “damage to the inner ear with acute tinnitus” and a “disorder of the vestibular system” that caused dizziness. He himself said that he had received medical treatment several times as a result of the slap in the face and had experienced “irreparable damage”.

“If I’m gone, write me letters”

Accompanied by his defense attorney, Fat Comedy apologized to Pocher in April. “I’m insightful and I want to make it clear that violence is always wrong,” says the comedian. With regard to the upcoming court proceedings, his lawyer assumes that witnesses will be heard again. He explained: “The indictment assumes various injuries to Oliver Pocher. I suspect that the court will summon Mr. Pocher as a witness to the court hearing in Dortmund, despite my client’s confession, in order to review the current status of the violations.”

According to documentation in his criminal file, Fat Comedy is said to have “officially appeared twice in the identification service” – in addition to bodily harm, he is also accused of property damage. It remains to be seen what the verdict will be. In any case, Fat Comedy seems to be expecting a prison sentence: In his Instagram story he wrote: “If I’m gone, write me letters”.
