After just one year, Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach and coach Daniel Farke are going their separate ways.
Borussia Monchengladbach has parted ways with coach Daniel Farke after just one year. The club confirmed this to WDR on Friday. The official announcement followed shortly thereafter. “A joint, detailed analysis of the season brought both parties to this decision,” Borussia wrote on Twitter. Farke was under contract with Borussia until the summer of 2025. In addition to Farke, assistant coaches Edmund Riemer, Christopher John and Chris Domogalla will also leave the club.
Already a lot of speculation about separation
Recently there had already been increased speculation about the replacement of Farkes, who had only joined Borussia last summer. Sports director Roland Virkus had announced a detailed review of the past season.
“We’ll sit down and analyze everything, including the coach, of course. We’ll draw our conclusions from the results of this analysis. It’s not just about the coach, it’s about everything,” said Virkus.
Gladbach again looking for a coach
Borussia ended a disappointing season in tenth place in the table. Gladbach is starting a new season with a new coach for the third year in a row. A year ago, Adi Hütter also announced his departure after the last matchday.
The main candidate for Farke’s successor is ex-professional Eugen Polanski (37), who last led Gladbach’s U23s to third place in the regional league. In addition, the former Leverkusen coach Gerardo Seoane is traded.
