The death of his parents, who died within a few months of each other in 2023, threw fashion designer Guido Maria Kretschmer off track last year. “When my mother died, everything was gone. “I was more lost than ever in my entire life,” said the 58-year-old on the NDR program “deeply and clearly.”
He valued his parents very much and always enjoyed spending time with them. “I had an extremely harmonious life with my parents. I don’t remember us having any dissonance. They released me very quickly.” He always received a lot of support from them throughout his life.
His father died in August and his demented mother died in December. In both cases he was able to say goodbye very lovingly and touchingly on his deathbed. The relationship with his siblings has become more intense and closer as a result. And he has rearranged his everyday life again, said Kretschmer, who was born in Münster.
He examined his activities and asked himself: “Do I continue to do things the way they were? Will I continue to have so many construction sites?” This was a big issue for him, said Kretschmer, who is known, for example, for the Vox television show “Shopping Queen”. “It still is a bit like that. Things are getting better now. But I think it also takes this time.” Finding your way back to life after the death of loved ones is very difficult. (dpa)
