After head knockout and dental surgery – lightning comeback at the BAK

By Roberto Lamprecht

Ten days ago, Julian Klar (21), central defender from regional league leaders Berliner AK, suffered a broken jaw in a header crash with a teammate and lost two teeth. After trying to get back up for a moment, he went knocked out in the game at BFC Dynamo and had to be carried away on a stretcher.

Crazy: His teeth were operated on directly at the UKB in Marzahn-Hellersdorf. Two broken teeth were pulled on top, the broken jaw below (four teeth were totally displaced) had to be fixed with a splint.

Shortly thereafter, the BAK defender took the train from Berlin to Ulm, where the second dental operation followed in the arona dental center. Since then he has been able to be seen again without gaps in his teeth.

Even crazier: Of course you’re already training again! Only ten days after the horror crash! And he wants to play again immediately…

The tough defender says: “I just grabbed the face mask from my earlier broken nose, everything went quite well in training. I have no pain, sometimes just a slight throbbing in my mouth.”

Why doesn’t he take it easy?

Clear: I didn’t want to take a long break after the procedures so as not to lose too much strength or condition. I informed the coach that I am ready to play. I want to help my team.

With a mask that now doubles as head protection! And what about the teeth?

The protective splint for the teeth is just being made, I’ll get it in ten days when I go back to the arona dental center in Ulm for a check-up, where a 6-week program has been drawn up.

Until then, he plays at his own risk.

Of course I know the risk, but anything can happen in football. I hope that I don’t get elbowed or balled in the face for so long because I don’t have fixed implants yet, but still have the temporary teeth.
