After four games without a win, FC Ingolstadt was able to celebrate again. The “Schanzer” defeated Waldhof Mannheim 1-0 on the 8th matchday of the 3rd division.

FC Ingolstadt have been longing for a win for four games now. After a great start to the season, garnished with first place in the table, the promoted team has been sad for a few games. The result: the fall from first place to eighth place. Now the “emergency brake”: The FCI scored three points against Waldhof Mannheim thanks to a 1-0 home win.

FCI misses top chances

In an intense exchange of blows between FC Ingolstadt 04 and Waldhof Mannheim, the score was 0-0 at the break. It was a decent game with chances for both sides. While Ingolstadt had a slight advantage in the first 30 minutes and missed several top chances to take the lead, the guests got better and better towards the end of the half and also had opportunities to take the lead through Martinovic and Taz.

Bech redeemed Ingolstadt

In the second half, both teams started and wanted to take the lead. But a red card in the 68th minute messed up the game: Mannheim’s Marco Höger had to leave the field after a foul. Shortly thereafter, Tobias Bech redeemed the Ingolstadt fans with his winning goal.

The FCI made up two places in the table and with 14 points is again well in the promotion race. Only two points are missing on the relegation promotion place.
