The 18-year-old woman from Sint-Oedenrode who was seriously injured in a car accident in Best last Sunday, died of her injuries. The police confirmed this on Monday morning. Her father (51) who was behind the wheel of the car the two were in, died at the scene of the accident.
The daughter was taken to hospital after the accident with serious injuries. She died there on Sunday.
Police are still unable to say how the accident could have happened, a spokesperson said. Earlier, a spokesperson indicated that no alcohol or drugs appeared to be involved. Police also believe that no other traffic was involved in the accident.
The car in which the two were driving collided with a tree in a gentle curve on Vleutstraat, then hit a lamppost and came to a stop against a second tree. The impact was so severe that the driver died at the crash site.
