Linn Persson’s recovery is not going as smoothly as hoped. The Swedish biathlete had to admit that once again. The 29-year-old is still struggling with the consequences of her double surgery after the end of the season.
On the sidelines of the Swedish Roller Ski Championships in Solleftea, Persson commented on her current state of health for the first time in about a month. She emphasized that she was on the “right way”, but “not quite” where she would like to be.
“I’m still in rehab,” said the surprise runner of the last biathlon season to “SVT”. “I knew for a long time that I would have surgery and that this summer would be different. But I miss training with the team,” Persson complained about the limitations associated with her double surgery on her shoulder and groin.
Persson back with the Swedish biathlon team
Persson has already taken part in the first small training sessions with the team in the past few days. However, the Swedish A-Team was only there with a rump squad at that time.
“I was really looking forward to it and I thought that I could finally be part of the team again. And then in the end there was hardly anyone from the team. But even though we were only with a few runners, it was really fun to be together again to be,” Persson said.
Now she can hardly wait to take the next steps on the way to her comeback. “I hope I can go to the altitude training camp in France next week,” said the Swede.
Prone shooting is still a problem for Persson
However, Persson would only complete a limited program there, because it is still the shoulder that causes her the biggest problems. “I have trouble finding the right position in prone because I’m still a bit stiff,” said the 29-year-old.
“My shoulder used to be very mobile, so I have to get used to it first,” she reported of slowly approaching the desired shooting position and speed. Overall, as Persson summarized, her shooting with her still injured shoulder is getting “better and better”.
