After Coolio’s death: “I Love The 90s” concert in Düsseldorf becomes a tribute show

Before rapper Coolio died unexpectedly on September 28, 2022, there was a concert in his honor next Sunday. Coolio has been along with artists like Haddaway and Vanilla Ice “I Love The 90’s” Tour.

In Germany, an appearance in Düsseldorf was planned. Originally postponed to October 2nd, 2022, the show is now scheduled to take place on September 2nd, 2023, at least according to some event platforms as well as Eventim.

TMZ“ writes that the show in Düsseldorf should be a homage to Coolio. Old pictures should be shown and songs by him should be played. Singer Haddaway said that since it’s supposed to be the last show on their tour, it should be a very special one. Also because Haddaway himself was fascinated by Coolio’s shows.

Haddaway has already invited Crystal Waters and Robin S. to be on the show. They’ve all been friends since the ’90s and no one plans to take Coolio’s place.

“I Love The 90’s” Tour

Most recently, the 59-year-old rapper played a show on September 23 with Vanilla Ice in Cypress, Texas. He is said to have seemed healthy there.

Coolio came on stage and freestyled, chatted to the audience and was in good shape for the entire 45 minutes of the show. Only his voice seemed a bit irritated. Vanilla Ice says his friend and fellow rapper’s last words to him were, “See you tomorrow, homie.”
