Along with her two children, three grandchildren and another member of the family, the grandmother was on a tourist bus on her way to Abu Simbel’s temples when a pickup truck veered off course in the opposite direction. The fuel truck drove head-on into the bus, which caught fire. The grandmother could no longer flee. The children, grandchildren and another family member were able to free themselves, but were left with fractures and bruises from the accident.
Together with the grandfather, the family is currently being taken care of in a hotel in Answar. Foreign Affairs and Europ Assistance are taking care of their return and the repatriation of the deceased grandmother.
