After botched liposuction! Patient should pay even more

By Sabine Klier

Dieter Padar (50) almost bled to death during liposuction in a private clinic. He was taken to the hospital in an ambulance and underwent emergency surgery. Now the next shock for him: he now received the horrendous subsequent bills.

Three weeks ago Charity organizer Dieter Padar underwent liposuction in a private clinic. The procedure cost 12,000 euros plus 1,300 euros for anesthesia. During the operation, the surgeon injured the patient’s liver.

The result: the liver ruptured and the internal bleeding made his circulation unstable. Padar was taken to the hospital by ambulance. His family was even told he wouldn’t survive the night! But Dieter Padar was lucky.

He has to pay at least 650.21 euros again!

Now he received the subsequent bills: “320.41 euros for the emergency doctor transport, 80 euros additional payment for the hospital stay. 223 euros for a compression garment that the private clinic would have originally provided me with. “For the threading, 26.80 euros,” Padar lists. That’s 650.21 euros alone! Added to this are the costs of traveling by taxi. And also the legal fees because he is suing the doctor at the private clinic.

“I had actually booked a short holiday to Greece this week, but I am not fit to travel. So another 1,000 euros are gone,” he says.

The consequences of the botched procedure are not only troubling Dieter Padar financially, but above all physically and psychologically: “Three liters of blood were sucked out of my stomach,” he says. “I’m not sleeping well, I’m short of breath. I don’t have the energy.”

He emphasizes: “But what I feel worst about is being left alone by the doctor who injured me so badly that I almost died. There was no medical attention and no follow-up care. I had to find a doctor myself who removed the drainage and took out the stitches.”

The beauty practice did not comment on the procedure when asked by BZ.

To date, neither the private clinic nor the responsible cosmetic surgeon have contacted Dieter Padar. The doctor’s name and picture have now been removed from the private clinic’s homepage…
