After Bohlen’s return next year: RTL sets “DSDS”.

Double bang on private television: After it became public yesterday that Dieter Bohlen would return to the juror chair of “Deutschland sucht den Superstar” next year, “RTL” announced today (July 13) that the casting show would end – The 20th season will also be the last: “After two very successful decades, we will celebrate the show one last time. And Dieter Bohlen shouldn’t be missing for the grand finale,” said RTL entertainment director Markus Küttner.

The Return of the Executioner

Last year, the broadcaster ended its collaboration with the 68-year-old. Those responsible wanted to give the television station a new, modern image – and replaced jury chief Bohlen with Florian Silbereisen. The nasty judge of the candidate’s vote had had its day; Harsh reviews like “If the weather were like your voice, it would rain shit!” no longer fit the self-image of “RTL”, it said between the lines at the time.

Now the about-face: The family-friendly and always well-meaning Florian Silbereisen will not be part of the jury in the coming year – they are working with him on the development of their own program formats. Together with Bohlen on “Deutschland sucht den Superstar” they now want to prove that they have changed a lot and continue to stand for positive entertainment: “We are very happy that he is there. It’s the same as with friends: sometimes a break is good. Together we will do a big, exciting, positive last ‘DSDS’ season in the coming year.” it says in a statement from the broadcaster.

“I’m attached to DSDS, that’s clear, but I’m also attached to success”

The words of the former Modern Talking composer, on the other hand, can also be interpreted differently: “If I can’t be Dieter that I am, I wouldn’t have agreed.” Bohlen told the “dpa” that the show was an important part of his Lebens: “To be part of the last season, it just has to be like that.” For this, he even waived part of his fee: According to media reports, his fee should be lower than in previous editions. He did not try to negotiate further seasons, said Bohlen: “I’m attached to ‘DSDS’, that’s clear, but I’m also attached to success.”
