In the last ten games Telstar has not managed to win, but that has changed tonight. MVV from Maastricht was defeated 2-1 in Velsen-Zuid. Glynor Plet and Özgür Aktas scored the Telstar goals.
Just like last week, Telstar started the race very well. Plet, maker of the 0-1 on a visit to FC Volendam (2-1 defeat), again scored a quick goal. He was only put in front of keeper Romain Matthys by Ozan Kökcu. The captain remained icy calm: 1-0.
Telstar pushes through
The White Lions remained the better team after that goal. Plet had an excellent opportunity to make it 2-0, but his header from close range was saved by Matthys. The lead was doubled in the 26th minute. A corner by Sven van Doorm was headed in by defender Özgür Aktas.

Despite some great opportunities on both sides after that goal, the halftime score was 2-0. Jip Molenaar could have made the third Telstar goal just before half-time, but his header went just over. Mart Remans was able to bring back the tension, but the attacker, who was released completely, headed wide.
Not 3-0, but 2-1
In the second half, Van Doorm should have decided the match, after he was set free in front of the goal by Kökcü. The occasional attacker tried with a lob, but the effort went wide. Telstar then seemed to play out the game relatively easily, but in injury time it became tense when Clint Essers scored. Fortunately for the Velsenaren it remained 2-1.
Telstar last won on October 18 last year. Then Jong PSV was defeated (2-3). With the victories, Andries Jonker’s team is immediately doing good business in the ranking. The White Lions are now thirteenth in the first division with 23 points after 22 matches.
Telstar setup: Koeman; Fernandes, Tugarinov (Zakir/62), Molenaar, Aktas, Wolters (Vandermeulen/62); Overtoom (Akoy/84), Dijkstra (Van Velzen/76), Kökcü; Van Doorm, Plet (Smit/84)
