After a positive corona test: ski freestyler Weiß before the start of the Olympics

Beijing (AP) – Ski artist Emma Weiß can plan to take part in the Winter Games despite her positive corona test when she entered the Olympics.

The CT value was over 35 in two other tests in the Olympic village, which means that she is listed as a so-called close contact, the 22-year-old freestyler told the German Press Agency. “That means I’m in quarantine, but I can go out for training and competitions. I eat alone in the room,” said Weiß.

The German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) reported another corona case in the German Olympic team on Tuesday, but announced on Wednesday that the finding had not been confirmed. So far, however, it was unclear who it was.

White is now tested twice a day. Depending on the development of the results, it is possible that it will still be classified as a positive case. “I just hope that everything works out and that I can take part in the competition,” said Weiß. In China, the athlete wants to compete in the Aerials discipline. Qualifying takes place on February 13th.

The athlete from the Freestyle Club Zollernalb is struggling with the late effects of a corona infection. Since she fell ill in November, her PCR tests have always been positive. The so-called CT value is sometimes too low. The same applies when entering China. “The doctors don’t know why it’s taking so long for me. The doctors have never had a case like this,” said Weiß.

The CT value A PCR test provides information about whether a person infected with the virus is contagious. The lower the Ct-value, the higher the risk of infection. During the Winter Games, a test is considered positive if the CT value is below 35.
