Berhan S. has German citizenship, was born in Berlin and also lives there, according to the public prosecutor. The man has been noticed in earlier years. The public prosecutor spoke of “mentally abnormal” behavior. There was no evidence that he was prone to acts of violence.
The police are familiar with criminal offenses such as bodily harm, insult, fare evasion, drug offenses and property damage. According to the public prosecutor, the last recorded physical injury happened in 2012. After that it was about property damage and drugs.
According to BZ information, the man had already attacked his then girlfriend Sonja (24) with a knife in 2009. The procedure was discontinued because the woman later withdrew her statement, said the spokeswoman for the public prosecutor’s office. For this reason, the case is no longer in the system of law enforcement agencies.
