After a few weeks at the Danish Lyngby, Letschert is now leaving for South Korea

After having played only five matches for Lyngby from Denmark, Timo Letschert is now going to work in South Korea at Gwangju FC. At the Danish team, 29-year-old Purmerender was told that his contract would not be extended.

Gwangju FC recently promoted to the highest level in South Korea. “I feel that the passion for football is really great. I will do my best to make Gwangju a stable team in the first division,” Letschert said on the Korean team’s website.

Switch after 23 minutes

The North Hollander played for AZ before his adventure in Denmark. In Alkmaar it came to an unpleasant end. In the away match against FC Twente (September 2021), trainer Pascal Jansen took him to the side after just 23 minutes. Out of frustration, the defender then went home with his own transport instead of the team bus. Since then he has not played for the Alkmaarders and was banned from the selection.

Letschert previously played for FC Utrecht, Hamburger SV and Roda JC, among others.
