After a draw against Kampong, Be Quick awaits a tough challenge in the battle for place in the third division

Be Quick 1887 awaits a tough task in Utrecht on Sunday. The team of trainer Steven Wuestenenk starts with a 0-0 score in the second showdown with Kampong in the first round of the post-competition for a place in the third division.

Kampong shot aggressively from the starting blocks and immediately forced Be Quick back into their own half. Merijn Muskens came into a promising position for goalkeeper Robert Smit after just a few minutes, but blasted wide. Moments later, Daan Groot Zwaaftink headed the ball past the wrong side of the post.

The home team seemed to get a little more grip on the game after fifteen minutes. Joris Reiziger accentuated that with a swipe over Job Peeters’ goal. But even though the Groningen people did something in return, Kampong remained the parent. The team from Utrecht played with more spirit and also with more conviction.

Slow intervention

Be Quick was no shadow of the team that won 3-1 against HBS on Sunday and thus forced participation in the playoffs. The pupils of Steven Wuestenenk let it all happen too much. There were quite a few weak interventions and the midfield was completely in the hands of Kampong. The striker couple Robbin van Kooten/Geertjan Liewes lost out.

Be Quick did not do much more than stop in the first half. The team succeeded in that aim. Also because Kampong often did not know what to do near the Groningen penalty area. A strange action by Smit made the Utrechters dangerous once again. The goalkeeper shot the ball wildly into an opponent and was lucky that the ball did not carambole over his own goal line.

Just before half-time, Be Quick was actually close to 1-0, but Liewes headed wide. However undeserved the lead would have been, no one in the Groningen camp would have cared.

Liewes close to opening goal

Immediately after the restart, Liewes was again close to the opening goal. However, the striker did not give a tailor-made cross an appropriate follow-up. Moments later, Van Kooten also had a good chance, but he shot wide at full speed.

Be Quick had more to offer in the second half than in the first. Kampong also kept his chances – Berend Witteveen shot just wide from close range – but the balance of power became more balanced.

As the game progressed, the game got sloppy. From both teams. Fatigue started to play a role. Risks were increasingly avoided. Be Quick understood that there was no more than a meager zero-zero and Kampong also applied the handbrake, convinced that he could finish it in his own house in two days.

In the extra time, Be Quick almost took off with the full booty. Substitute Sem Rozema, however, saw his shot, intended as a cross, spectacularly tapped over the crossbar by Peeters.
