In June 2022, for the first time in two years, tens of thousands of visitors will be able to celebrate at “Rock am Ring” and “Rock im Park”. Because of the corona pandemic, the two festivals could not take place for two years.

According to the organizers, a total of more than 140,000 tickets for both festivals, which are scheduled to take place from June 3rd to 5th, were sold shortly before Christmas.

About 80 percent of the owners of tickets from the years 2020 and 2021 exchanged tickets for the new editions this year instead of claiming their money back. A festival spokeswoman also told the German Press Agency that from the current perspective it is realistic that with the planned relaxation of the corona measures, tens of thousands of fans could again celebrate at the festivals in the Eifel and in Nuremberg.

Headliners for the twin festival this year are Green Day, Muse and Volbeat. Despite the change of organizer, the traditional concept with around 80 bands each on three stages at the Nürburgring and on the Nuremberg Zeppelinfeld will be continued.

With new websites and apps there should also be innovations, according to the organizer. With a mini-series with videos from fans on YouTube and new websites from both festivals, visitors should get a foretaste of the long-awaited return of the music spectacle.

“Rock am Ring” took place for the first time in 1985, making it one of the most traditional festivals in Germany. In 1997, the “Rock im Park” festival, which took place at the same time, was added.
