After a climate plan, Roeselare now also has a climate coalition
There is already a plan on the table with zones that are either good for connection to the heat network of the incinerator MIROM, or other sustainable heat sources are more suitable. In addition to a further expansion of the heat network, in Roeselare they are also thinking of smaller heat networks with residual heat from companies or even heat that is extracted from the sewers. Michele Hostekint, alderman for climate and sustainability in Roeselare: “The climate coalition must provide a connection between companies, citizens, schools, associations… Everyone in the city, in fact, to ensure that we can put our shoulders to the wheel together. That we can achieve these climate goals together. can achieve to be climate neutral as a city by 2050.”
Koen Van Overberghe, Director Mirom Roeselare: “The plan is literally on the table here today. Now we have to move from plan to realization and that is why we need all the partners who are here today. It is also the first time that we’ reach out in a structural way to everyone who may have to do with sustainable heat in Roeselare.”
