After a car fire on the premises of the anti-terrorist center on Ringbahnstrasse (Tempelhof), investigators made an explosive discovery: ammunition was illegally stashed in a tin cupboard.
Explosive mission for the Berlin fire brigade: On the night of April 25, a car caught fire in a vehicle hall on the LKA premises. The fire brigade initially used a water cannon because the rescuers were too worried about ammunition or explosives.
When searching the scene of the fire, investigators later made an unusual discovery. 200 cartridges of different calibers were stored in a sheet steel cabinet, including ammunition used by the precision shooters of the special task force (SEK).
A police spokeswoman: “The cupboard and ammunition were located on a secured police site, but outside of the storage facility that was basically intended for this purpose.” There is still no initial suspicion that a crime has been committed. “Nevertheless, disciplinary investigations were initiated against an employee of the LKA 6,” the spokeswoman continued.
According to BZ information, the box is said to have been assigned to a precision shooter. The Berlin police did not want to answer why he stored the ammunition there.
