It is the end of an era, because after 27 years, camping De Schuilhoeve in Huis ter Heide is coming to an end. When the last camping guest has picked up his mobile home today, it’s really over for Albert and Rika Schuiling. “It will take some getting used to,” the couple thinks.
Albert and Rika have been running the campsite since 1995, but now enough is enough. Albert is almost eighty years old, while Rika is 75. “It was just too much for me, it’s too busy for me. You want to do everything right and you will do that, but then you forget yourself and that is difficult,” says Rika. Albert adds: “If we had only been 28, we would have continued”, he laughs. “But we’re not that young anymore. Age is starting to count. You get tired earlier in the evening, it’s no different.”
